Does it look like I need to stay with the iPod?

In 2003, I got my hands on the 2nd generation ipod. I loved its easy navigation. Now, I'm using a 60GB ipod (5G). Now that navigation has become more easy with things like touchscreen, I was looking for a good player (can be a DAP or PMP) for when I travel, not jogging.

My biggest requirements:
-Mac compatible (well...scratch Zune off of that. And I'm not going into bootcamp/parallels or any other way just to connect a device all the time)

-Large storage capacity. (at LEAST 60GB+ but mostly looking for over 100). Sometimes I need it as a MSC as well as holding the music.

-Lossless music compatible with gapless playback (FLAC or ALAC)

SQ would be up there, since I'll be getting a UE-11 next month, but that's still up in the air. Anyways, here's what I found. There's practically NO PMP or DAP that will do those things.

Sure there's the Archos 5 (250GB), which I would've loved to have because I can use it as a GPS and play my Apple Lossless files (after being nickel and dimed to get those plugins...). But other things like non-removable ads hurt this thing.

Maybe I'll cave in and buy it, but I like it, I don't love it, and you don't marry someone you like. So because of that, I don't think anybody should really bash the ipod now. It has its easy navigation, decent SQ with a large storage capacity and I'm finding rockbox to be clunkier and harder to navigate on it. Maybe if I waited until next year, what are your opinions? Maybe I should get the Archos 5 anyway?

Aside from the mixed reports on sound quality (personally I'd go with a lower end custom or higher end fit for all IEM for ~$300 or so if you're going straight from the headphone jack), it seems like the iPod (Classic) is exactly what you should be looking at. I don't know that I'd expect large capacity players other than iPod and Zune for the next year or two (until flash gets large and cheap enough). I think HDD players are on the way out, even for Apple and Microsoft.

Man that sucks. I sorta thought that would've been it, but I just had to hear it. Thanks, man.
