does it hurt if i reversed the power hook up and it didn't start?

Like will it hurt anything if i had the like power switch hook up reversed? i have a p4s333 and i was putting it together and i thought i had everything hooked up right and i hit the power switch and nothing....then i heard like a little weeee sound , not loud or nothing, but will it hurt it if i accidently had it hooked up that way?

Ive hooked it up backwards a couple of times on different systems over the years and it didnt seem to screw things up.
