I personally loved bored stay at home military wives........

cool how'd you hook up with them?

Not real hard once the novelty of being married to a Marine for example wore off. Then they get bored, the husband usually neglects them, they are away from their hometown/ friends, and realize they married to young..

Its funny cause you see cycles in clubs that coincide with deployments. Husband ships out...wife hits the club.

Then you also have the "out with the buddies" guys and there wives are the typical bored housewives looking for a little bit of excitement.

but you knew that already

You guys are really trying to make this guy feel paranoid aren't you lol? Personally, i'd sit down with her and have a "mature" conversation with her about the situation. Find out if something is bothering her or if there's a "good" reason she doesn't want to work. The excuse about cleaning up puppy pee-pee, thats bs. Yeah, thats right, i said pee-pee, so what. But anyway, i'm sure its not very difficult to take care of a puppy, since they're not like people babies and need to be looked after every second of the day. Put a puppy diaper on the lil bastard and call it a day.

if she isnt a student and you dont have any children she needs to work. sounds like you already spoiled her though, so game over

right I did, but usually you have to be a decent player to score in this situation, she is more apt to find another soldier or fireman/cop/emt.

that's the was I see it going though here.

If you can support her (and that should have been determined before marriage was even considered) then allow her to make her choices.

My wife helped take care of the family while I went through school.

Our understanding afterwards was that she would work if she wanted to. Her primary responsibility was to take care of the family.

Yup. Based on a few experiences of homemakers that I know, I'd worry if my wife is a stay-at-home. They seem to get bored and cheat rather easily.

You might want to talk to these guys.

But seriously, was she career oriented before you got married? If not, why expect her to change? Is she doing all the housework, or is she being lazy?

I have a friend who is a homemaker right now, but not by choice. She is not allowed to work by law. I'm worried that she's going to start going stir crazy soon. She's seriously considered working jobs that pay under the table just so she can get out of the house.

And to answer your question, yes, if I were married, it would very much bother me if my wife did not want to work.

i have yet to talk to her about what im feeling but i will after work....some people got the impression that all she wants is money but shes very conservative about finances and saves everything...weve already signed up for some college classes but were just waiting for the term to start...hopefully things will change by then...a neighbor of mine is in the same position, as in his wife stays home all day also....maybe we could get somethin worked out for of them to do...thankx for the replies tho...i think i will get that whip :)

yea were both pretty young...as for my wife, i trust her 100%...although all my checkin and savings accounts are still in my name... :) ...i was just too lazy to change them..

Is the house clean? Is everything else taken care of? It is not working... or not having a job outside the home. I know that sounds feminazi and i dont mean too. recently, i stopped being an earner. I do not bring any money into the house. But i work. I cook, clean, take care of 10 cats and run the b/f's business. That is work... but not considered a job. So, I ask...when you say she will not work... do you mean that she will not do anything or that she will not get a paid job outside the home?
the house is always clean, and she'll cook whatever i want for dinner...but i just dont want her stuck in the house all day...

I think that taking off time to help raise a child is admirable and acceptable. Hell, I think it'd be great if both parents could take off.

But that is ridiculous.

Especially since the child in question is actually a puppy :)

little backstory first...im in the military stationed overseas, we got married a couple months before we moved. we got government housing, utilities, and food already payed for. so the only thing we have to pay for is internet, car payments, and insurance...

weve been here for 6 months, and shes still doin the same things since the day she got here. at first it didnt bother me...since she did leave her family and home to be with me, but my main concern is that shes gonna bore herself to death and then therell be problems with our relationship. i have talked to her about job openings on base but all she replies is "i'll work when im ready..." wth...isnt 7 months without work a long time already...or shell reply that someone has to be home to take care of our 6 month old puppy. im not tellin her to work 5 days a week, 9-5...just somethin to keep her occupied, maybe 10-20 hrs a week. we get into little arguments about whose turn it is to clean up the puppy's piss...she'll complain that shes been cleanin up after him all day or that shes tired from walkin him outside... -_- ...if only i can throw a water bottle at her...ive been bustin my ass wakin up before the sun gets up and coming home after the sun goes down and she gots the nerve to say shes tired....

all said aside...i do love her a lot and she is a carin person..usually but i just want her to be busy...

thanx for listenin..

Yes I was in same boat as you... E5 USN and my wife thought she didnt have to work.
solved that sh!t real quick..
either work or get the hell out.. no freeloaders..
love be damned... work or get the hell out..

I second that. I lived overseas on a military base for several years. I would be banned if I talked about some of the crap that went on.

The day my wife stops working, she better be pregnant, or retired. As long as I have to work, she has to work.

But if she worked, she'd have less time to mess around with the other guys on the base while you are at work... ;)

so that's how you came to be.

on a more serious note, though, cjgallen's idea isn't half bad. if she gets bored, she might find alternative ways to deal with her loneliness, and in the end you will be at fault. trust me.
