Does installing aftermarket stereo equipment violate the warranty on a car?

I flipped through the brochure on my warranty and it just says to check with my Toyota dealer. I plan on calling them in a few days but figured someone here might know. Do warranties generally prohibit you from installing stereo equipment or does it vary from manufacturer to manufacturer?

You can generally install ANYTHING you want on your car - aftermarket stereo, subs, amps, superchargers, exhaust, etc.. but if a problem is caused BY THE AFTERMARKET PART, it's not covered by warranty.
So a stereo will rarely cause a problem (unless you blow a fuse or jack up the battery or alternator), but non-approved performance parts might.

Sweet. I'm still going to check to make sure, but that sounds good. :D Factory sound just doesn't cut it, even if it is premium.

I have a Toyota Tundra and I made sure nothing I did to the car would be in violation of the warranty.
The tech made it clear that regardless of what I put in the truck, unless it's specifically that part that caused the problem, your warranty is intact. You shouldn't even be worried with a stereo unless it's a super-crappy installation job.

If in the process of hooking up the aftermarket stereo you blow out the electrical system in the car your warranty on the electrical system is void.
