From Hp website the answer is sure. Every time I insert a 80 mins
CD-R, it shows 650M(74mins). I have tried two brands of CD-R. There
is no difference. I just bought is machine. So I think the software
should be up to date. So where is wrong?

Thanks.

My understanding from searching the HP site is yes the hardware supports 80 min discs but the software supplied does not. You must d/l 3rd party software which probably is a good idea anyway because I didn't find EasyCD and CD Copier the easiest to use.

Hmm.. I thought it was a firmware issue. I also have an Hp 9100i and whenever I use Nero... the most I can do is 76 mins and that's where it would cut off or at least that's what Nero says I can do with my burner. But then again i haven't tried any 80 min cdr's yet.

I agree with Paulson, kinda.

My 9110i will only burn 80min cdr's with Nero. It will not with the adaptec software that was included with it.

metoo- I checked out that chart you linked and according to it the software included with the 9100 series is supposed to support it also. I'll have to mess around with mine some more to see if I can get it to work. I got a couple spindles of 80min cdr's from outpost :)

I'm using the HP 9110i with the included adaptech software, and I have no problems burning 80min cd-rs. I'm using imation 12x cd-rs, if you wanted to know. the crapy part is that my cd playing in my car can't read that far out, oh well, my cd player does.
