On topic though you live in New York which is a may issue state.

Unlikely your security clearance will have any impact, you'll most likely need to be able to demonstrate a reason for needing one.

Unless you live in an area that has a very carry friendly sheriff your odds aren't good.

I don't think NY is known for being gun friendly, & packing.org agrees. In fact it looks like you need a license merely to own a gun let alone carry one.

Only to those that require it.

A clearance is a garanteed job if you have the minimal qualifications for those comapanies that need to fidn a cleared person.

However a clearance means nothing as far as I can tell for investigations performed for anything else. I need to get a child care clearance at least once a year it seems. A clearance dosn't make a bit of diffrence. There might be a blurb in your FBI file but basically you are just being checked agaisnt national crime and fingerprint databases before they approve your permit. Noone will check the 'clearance' database unless they are specifically looking to see that you have a clearnace.
