Does Google Look Like Bing For Anyone Else?

Turned black for me yesterday.

Google could also be looking to save a bit of money. A black navigation bar seems like a small change to make if the end-goal is just about aesthetics, but consider Blackle, the Google-powered search that uses a black background instead of white. When the site debuted a few years ago, calculations suggested that a Black Google would save thousands of Megawatt-hours every year as an all-white Web page uses about 15 more watts to display than an all-black Web page.

I don't think it works this way. :hmm:

umm even with the black bar it looks NOTHING like bing

i even went to bing for the first time since they turned off bing cashback so i could remember WTF it looked like

looks normal to me:

OMG why do they keep fucking with it? They are making it worse and worse. What ever happened to it being the simplistic search engine it used to be?

The thing that pisses me off the most is that stupid auto search crap. You can turn it off, but it often comes back if you log in/out of a google related site like youtube or adsense.

On the computer I had the blue magnifying glass on earlier in the week, I now have the black bar. Google looks different every day.

The black bar is part of their Google+ roll out. I actually think their redesign is pretty awesome. The search results look so much better than they did before and I'm glad to see the departure from blue links everywhere.

I really like it as well, I actually look at the 'advanced' options on the left. What is quite neat is doing a recipe search, it allows you to narrow it down by ingredients, and time.

QFT. I use an add-on that deletes everything browser-information related when I exit (including flash content and all cookies) and I /never/ save passwords. Which means no matter how many times I set the options in google - stuff like turning off stupid safe-search, and turning off auto-search, it always comes back.

Auto-search is an absolutely horrible function. It constantly fucks up what I'm typing, or when I backspace it goes all idiot.

Safe search is ok, but jumping jesus on a pogo stick, default it to OFF, especially for those in the freakin' medical field!

They've screwed froogle as well. I don't know anyone who actually uses their 'view as gallery', and yet from time to time froogle forces me into that view until I fight my way out of it.

Come on google, get back to the basics that we love and save all this additional bullshit for the people who use igoogle.

WTF are they doing to it??? I just used it now and they've made tons of changes. I'm really not liking the change in position of the url in the search results. It was way better when it was under the description.

And the preview function is really annoying as well, I find myself accidentally clicking it all the time and it pisses me off.

I'm not a big fan of the preview function either, it annoys me. The new changes are actually useful though, which is nice for a change.
