does game size matter for X360?

Hi I just wanted to get this clear. so far I had thought that space wouldn't be a problem for games yet as some of the best PC games still use dvd format. also because of the advances in disc compression X-360 shouldn't have a problem for a long time. as if it's such an issue the over whelming size difference between PS3 and X360 should show.but instead we see games with near equal quality or better quality in X360. but I'm not certain so would like to know the exact details of this disc space issue.
cheers.

*edit*
so do you guys have any links or articles that explains this or any thoughts as to the importance of disc space???

So far it's only been an issue with RPGs like Blue Dragon, and by "issue" I mean "you have to swap DVDs at some point in the game just like with some PS1 & PS2 RPGs."

Literally 99% of games out there fit perfectly well in 8 GB.

So no, this is only a tiny tiny win for the PS3, not one that matters to anyone.

yeah thats what I thought too but just not 100% sure. I do know that the space shortage for blue dragon was due to its cgi movies which is irrelevant coz thats not gaming right? my question is does space matter for actually programming atm?

You'll hear a couple of rumors every now and then about games being delayed because they have to work with the disc size limitation (GTA4 and UT3 are two of the main ones, both of which have been debunked), but it's a non-issue right now.

Speaking of this matter, I personally see a possible future niche market for HD VMD with consoles (for nonSony systems).

Holds 30GB, faster transfer rate than HD-DVD, and best of all...
it is far cheaper than either Blu-Ray or HD DVD, both for discs and for players.

The key to HD VMD's low price is that it utilizes red laser technology, which is still vastly cheaper than the blue-violet lasers used in HD DVD and Blu-Ray players.

A disc reader of this cheap(er) format in a console (and more importantly, cheap to print the games on) is pretty attractive, considering that it does not have much hope in the movie business with so many exclusive bluray / HD-DVD deals.

I suppose. but say that this does become a issue then what will ms do? I think they'll release an accessory like the HD-DVD accessory. but either way I guess this is a non issue atm. infact I see ps3 having blue-ray as a disadvantage because of the price and becasue it brings no clear programming advantage yet.

btw I found this link that shows how much space can be saved from smart programming
the demo needs a decent computer to run so read the read me file. but surprisingly its only 180kbs!!
