Well, this is not really the place to discuss such matters, but I have mentioned in the past it would be nice if lower level mods like me that frequent other forums outside of the forum under their governance, to be able to at least just move threads to the correct forum.

With vB though, the report post function works quite well and things are handled pretty quickly, so it's not as much of an issue now.

Why not give the OP the chance?

If he is not very good or abuses his status, then rescind his mod powers. What is the worst that he can do?

It is not as if the mods are on the AT payroll, so who cares if there are 50 mods or a 100.
 
The people advocating giving the OP a chance are missing the point.
He's complaining about Off Topic threads in OT. The mini mods have no power to lock or move them (according to KT). Him being appointed to mod in Gadgets would have nothing to do with moving threads out of OT. He wouldn't have the power there either.
Plus, it's not how mods are selected.

I started this thread to ask a simple question but added in my usual attempt at humor. The part I was serious was that Pliable would make a great choice if there wasn't already a mod in place.

But since more than a few people want to bash on me, then let me put in my $.02 about that. I've changed GREATLY from what I was. With that said, I did a lot of very stupid things and for way too long made the mods jobs way too hard. They were gracious enough to let me back after I earned a permaban and I haven't forgotten that. I don't expect them to forget the past but those of you that just want to throw in shots need to get a hobby.

And it is stupid that the mini mods can't move a thread TO their forum. I'm not trying to make a huge deal out of it but since it was brought up here, I just want to agree.

ok...you have changed...but so have a lot of other people...so perhaps we should make all those other people mods also??? ya think.......
