Does everybody have Google Chat in Gmail?

it is better than aim, icq, yahoo, etc. imo. simple and straight forward...what all of those programs want to be but arent. no bloatware whatsoever.

it's amazing how there are at least 10 companies out there who have an email offering and a chat offering (Yahoo, MSN etc etc), but we had to wait for Google to figure out that chat belongs inside mail... afterall, chat is nothing but a series of rapid, short emails... right?

all the rest (environments, drawpads, games, smileys etc) is just fluff

Its active on my account, but it won't work on this one Firefox profile I have. If I simply delete my firefox profile and restart firefox, its there fine. Its shows on IE, and on other computers with firefox/IE, but not on this specific profile. (I like to keep the same ff profile since it has all my history/logins for the past year and a half..)

yes, then no...yes then no.

It keeps coming and going so frequently its freaking annoying.

It is cool to play with, but i dont want people to see me go online everytime i want to check my email. Hopefully it will have an option to disable

It already does. You can sign in/out of chat.

I got it, but I turned it off because it automaticaly logs me in when I check my GMail account at work. It's pretty cool, though.
