Yea Diet Coke is pretty much all I drink. 6-8 liters a day easy. The alternative would be beer probably, and I can't deal with those extra calories. 🙁 I'm thinking eventually I'll have to acquire a taste for water, as my body aint the same lately. 🙁

Have you tried unsweetened iced tea? I think it's a good alternative to diet soda.

I haven't, but I'm very open to suggestions because this Diet Coke thing is getting way out of control. I'll pick some up at the wholesale club Sunday and see if I like it. Thanks. 🙂

You don't have to buy it in a can at the store...could get it in a jug..but I know what you mean. I like homebrewed iced tea; sweet of course.

Penylalanine has been linked to cancer, but that's really only in GREAT (and I mean GREAT) amounts. Doubtful you'll be getting it. It's also directly linked to genetics.

I'd like to learn more about this. I wonder if 6-8 liters per day would be considered "GREAT" amounts. I sure hope not. 🙁

You drink ~18 cans of Diet Coke a day? So you're basically drinking one can every waking hour?

Living causes cancer. If people didn't live they wouldn't get cancer.

That said, if a product has been on the market for many many years and nothing concrete has come out of any "cancer" rumors, you can assume it's a myth. If products are less than 10 years old and you hear this, it might have some validity.

Everything causes cancer thank god.
Yeah, that was a Joe Jackson song, sans the religious reference.

Now, I drink basically one diet cola a day. Costco labeled, when they have it. I saw a news story a few weeks ago about a shortage of Splenda, the non-caloric sweetener of choice these days. That's the stuff they put in Kirkland Diet Cola (the Costco stuff), and my local Costcos haven't been stocking it for a couple of months or so. My guess is they will when the supply rebounds, but it's just my guess (I'm drinking Diet Pepsi now). I like the Kirkland it just as well as the brand name diet colas and it costs way less. I wouldn't want to be drinking a 1/2 dozen a day, though. Some people drink a lot more of it than that. That's already a habit and/or an addiction. I get most of MY caffeine from coffee - the straight black stuff (brewed, of course!).

Yea easily. I actually don't drink much from cans, usually chugging from 2-liter bottles.

I am not trying to be critical, but how on earth can you drink six liters of soda in one day? I'd be scared of diabetes, tooth decay, digestive problems...

Although I haven't read of any proven relationships between the sweeteners and cancer, I know for a fact that such high caffeine intake can cause a lot of problems. Mood, digestive, and absorptive problems are just some that I know of - you could almost guarantee that your blood pressure is through the roof. And calcium absorption can be reduced as well, causing bone loss to go along with the heart disease.

I guarantee that you will feel like a new person if you start drinking water instead of soda. It will be the best decision you've ever made!

I drink a ton of diet coke. Cancer here I come.

True BS I say

I've heard that an element in diet sodas is linked to brain cancer, so yes. Might want to google a "real answer" though.

typing on the computer right now and looking at the screen is bound to contribute to some kind of cancer as well. fsck cancer studies.
