Does defragging usually require a reboot?

I always reboot after defragging, but wonder if it is necessary. Yeah? I use winXP.

defragmenting only requires a reboot if youre running a boot time defragmenter which like diskeeper which is supposed to be better than the defragmenters built into win2k or winxp.
