Personally I can't recall a time I have teared up but this seems to be a common affliction amongst weaker humans

The big white onions (whatever variety that is) are like pepper spray to my eyes. Not so much crying as stinging/burning to the point I'm flailing my arms around (with knife still being held) like a blind madman. I hate cutting onions. Much easier to buy the pre-chopped ones in a little container for 10x the price but 100x less the pain.

Definitely not a manlet, but clearly deformed in some other way.

No but the babies.....

I'm the other way around. Human life means nothing to me, but innocent onions don't deserve that kind of treatment.

When I make French Onion soup I do a big batch of a couple of gallons and give a bunch out to family and friends. It's requires a lot of onions, so I use safety goggles when peeling and cutting them. The goggles really work great.

Onions will always make everyone cry *at first*.
It's just a chemical doing what chemicals do.

And like all chemicals you can develop an immunity to it. After working a few months in a restaurant you can rub onions in your eyes and not cry.

So no. Or yes, depending how long ago i cut my last onion.

Cutting onions brings back such memories, so yeah, it makes me cry.

One day beneath the onion tree, my love and I did lie
A girl so sweet that when she smiled, the stars rose in the sky
We passed that summer lost in love, beneath the onion tree
The music of her laughter hid my father's words from me

One day she left without a word, she took away the sun
And in the dark she left behind, I knew what she had done
She left me for a pepper, it's a common tale but true
A sadder man, but wiser now, I sing these words to you

Onion tree, very pretty, and the onion flower is sweet
But the fruit of the poor onion is impossible to eat

Mary? That you?

Nope, They did 25 years ago but not anymore. My first job was working at A&W and part of my job was making the onion rings. After you peel and slice enough 50lbs bags of onions you build up an immunity to them, and that immunity has stayed with me all these years.

I think there's much less of a chance of crying if you're using a sharp knife - not much of the juices come out.

Cutting onions - the one time having contact lenses is a benefit.
Know when having contacts sucks? When you're smoker, and a contact comes out when you're out in the field. Putting the contact back in with grubby nicotine covered fingers... It's like rubbing your eyeball with a jalapeño.

Never had an issue with onion.

Have you tried rubbing your eye with an onion? We need a double blind test to verify, k thx.

Not necessarily cry, but if I'm cutting them with my face/head right over them then my eyes will tear up.

I don't cry, but my eyes just start to burn after a while. I bought a slap chop (well a rip off version of one as that's what they had in store) and use that now. So much easier than doing it by hand with a knife as it's faster and reduces exposure time.
