Does crucial memory overclock well.

I have Asus A7N8X and 2500 Barton that I just bought along with 2 512 sticks of Crucial 2700 memory. I have bumped the multiplier to 12.5 in the bios Which is the max that 1005 goes. I have read that 1005's overclocking sucks maybe that is why 12.5 is max.

Anyhow I didn't want to spend the extra $$$ on pc3200. Everybody says bump fsb to 200 on the 2500 and I was just wondering if my memory would handle that. I am satisfied with what I have now. I just wanted some opinions about if I could get some more.

i run 2 chips of crucial 2700 myself and i hate to say it but they dont overclock well at all, the two stick i have wont do much over stock speed, i think i had them up to 365 for awhile but not very stable, they dont like anything but default timings either. My 2000+ tbred A does 200X9.5 but my ram cant keep up🙁 you might wanna go for some OCZ 3200 those chips do very well i hear

Thanks Ymeister. I am not going to spend any more $ on memory. Maybe in the next bios release they will give some more multipliers. Someone at AMDMB forums said they "Asus" was in a hurry to fix the SATA raid problem and left out the overclocking.

I still have more than I paid for. 😉

Have you tried overclocking your memory yet? I'd suggest lowering your multiplier pretty low and then finding the max stable point for your Ram. My 256 MB stick of Crucial PC2100 happily ran at 225 MHz (450 DDR) when I first got it about a month ago, but I've since had to back it off to 218 MHz. Give it a try and let us know how it goes.

i too owned crucial 2100 and had a great OC with it, thats why i went with crucial 2700, unfortunately the 2700 modules dont do nearly as well as the 2100 did🙁
