I just ran cpu-z (the newest version 1.28), and it says my cpu is 0.09nm. I looked at the invoice, and it says A64 3000+ 0.13nm... Did they send me the wrong cpu, or could it be that cpu-z is wrong?
btw, I got a retail version, and the box doesn't say anything on it being 0.09 or 0.13.
If I did got the 0.09nm should I be happy? or call them and have it replaced?

Not to mention the nForce4 chipset is currently only for 939/.09, so if you had a 754/.13 cpu, you wouldn't have been able to put it in your motherboard.

I belive both of you are wrong here's a link to a socket 939 A64 which is 0.13, and although mine is 3000+, I'm sure it was 0.13 when I looked at the site - trust me, I know since I was considering which one to get, I ended up going for the budget 0.13... And that's my question, did I get a different cpu?

ALL 3000+ s939's are .09. They did not make a s939 .13 in the 3000+

Actually, NF4 is not just for .09. Otherwise you would not be able to run the FX line of A64's. But you are correct about the s754 not fitting on the s939;)

the 3500 is a exception. It was made in .13 as it was the lowest CPU to come out on 939. when the lower models were released they were ALL .09nm and the 3500 also made the jump. There are still some .13nm 3500's floating around though

trust me ya want a .09 anyway

I stand corrected about ALL 939s being .09... yes, the 3500 and some FXs are exceptions, but all lower model A64s are either 939/.09 or 754/.13, and the nForce4 is 939 only (.09 or .13). So you definitely have a .09 3000.

You might want to post a nice review about the retailer for that...

OP, what socket does CPU ID tell you that you have, and what frequency is it running at? If it's a .09 939 3000, it will be 1.8ghz, if it's .130 939 3000, it *should* be 2ghz. If it's S754 3000, then it's def .130 @ 2.0ghz.

You should be happy, you have a Winchester core 3000+, the best Bang for the Buck cpu you can buy!!!! :) :) :)

All Winchester Core A64's use the .09 process, these use less watts and are better OCers then CPU's made with the .13 process.

The original A64 S939 3500+ was a .13 NewCastle core, but the new A64 S939 3500+ is a Winchester .09 core. The S939 3000+ and 3200+ were only ever released on the .09 Winchester core. The link you are reffering to is for the older NewCastle core 3500+.

cpu-z says: socket 939 and 1809Mhz...
ok so I guess I had the wrong idea about it (as well as the vendor)
I'll just be happy with my A64 3000+ 0.09nm

Now that I know it 0.09nm, maybe I'll squeeze some juice out of it, since I know they should OC well.

This is incorrect. The 3000+ rating is 1.8Ghz on 754 and 2Ghz on 939 because AMD counts the dual channel on socket 939 as worth an extra 200Mhz. This has nothing to do with the CPU being .09 micron or .13 micron.

You're both wrong:
#1 there are NO 130nm s939 3000+
#2 for the 3000+ the s754 is 130nm @ 2GHz and the s939 is 90nm at 1.8GHz

How does that make me wrong? I didn't agree or say that there was a .13 micron 939 300+, just that the process doesn't affect the PR rating.

Sorry, I was wrong about 1 part, for some reason I thought someone posted that there were s939 .130's available.

i know for 3500+ there is the newcastle core which is 0.13 micron
and 3500+ winchester core 0.09 micron

dunno if they ever produced 3200+ and 3000+ with 0.13 micron

A 3200+ 939 might've been produced as a 130nm; I recall it being listed on AMD's site somewhere. I haven't seen any, though.

Whoever said something about the NF4 being S939-only is incorrect; the chipset was made to be portable to S754, and it has been done (though the only board so far is an ECS).

OP: Have fun OCing your Winch.
