I purchased Midcore's software 2 years ago,saw nothing in the documentation that suggested any ongoing fees, and have been using it free ever since. No username/passwords/etc were ever requested;just installed it and it works. I totally recommend it. Easy 101K access. MarkAtTheZone

Oldfart, guess I was looking for a few more real live experiences with this technique. I want to thank you and others for your imput. I agree that we have just about covered everything and it's time to let this thread die. I'm all excited at getting 52k with two modems. Thanks again.....

i dont have time to read all peoples reply but i think its better to buy just the diamond shotgun modem. u nned 2 phone lines though!! u cant gett 112k on 1 phone line. and as of now i only know that AOL supports it. u will see better performence in games a little but not a whole bunch, like for ex UT (unreal tournament) i saw an 50-80 ping decrease which it good.

Sympatico allows this if it is available to you and there is no extra charge. Shouldn't be since it is unlimited access. I sometimes have 3 connections at one time - 2 home lines and laptop when away (all with the same ID and password). Never had a problem connecting all 3 at once.

really? hmm, I've gotta try this out now! if only I had a second modem right now...

thanks ALOT Gemstone.

the next question is, can I get one link to turn off when an incoming phone call comes on a phone line? if I can do that, then I'll be set to go get a second modem.. :)

I have USB call waiting modem by Actiontec - I usually get in around 49,333 bps. You could have both lines/modems running amd if you get a call on the line connected to the Actiontec, you can pick up yuor phone to see who it is (you have about 7 seconds) - if you don't want to talk to them - hang up the phone and you'll still be connected with both lines - if you want to talk to the calling party - go ahead- your one line will disconnect from the ISP - but the other line is still connected - a little reconnect popup appears so when youre done with your call - click it and get reconnected with both lines again - here's a link for a PCI version at buydotcom I thought I bought the USB version there also

depends on your isp. Some isps block multiple logs, others just detect and then eventually cancel your service.

Soccerman: I've tried this many times on Sympatico Manitoba's system and have yet to be succesful. It will allow you to have you to 3 silmultanious(sp) connections, but will not bond them. I can dial in with 3 computers at the same time, and get 3 different IP's on the same account. But it automatically disconnects you if you try to bond 2 together. I assume that it's just not allowing us to use the same IP address on 2 connections. If you find out how to do it, please let me know!

Whooohoooo! I'm now running at 55,200 for the first time ever. Softcom supports shotgunning and set up was a breeze. The pages are flyin by. Can't wait to try games and downloading things just for the hell of it.
