Does beer go bad?

At a controlled environment i'd say you were ok, but leave it in the sun for awhile and it would go bad. I found some beer that had sat in the sun for a few months and it was all slimy.

If it's maintained at a cool temperature and protected from sunlight it can last many years. But it won't last indefinitely, eventually it'll start to turn.

Color is normal. What are the signs?

As others have said, it will never kill you or make you sick. It doesn't go bad that way, that I know of. But, again, as others have said, it will get skunked, especially if it gets warmed up and then cooled down again in storage.

Try it. Taste will tell you all. Damn, this semi-helpful post of mine has trumped my intended troll. I'll proceed anyway:

Does beer go bad?

I was once assaulted by a criminally insane pilsner. The whole attack was hard to swallow.

Obligatory I'm a beer snob and only drink Micro's cus all Macro's suck.

I only drink beers that are made as a single serving, then the recipe is shredded, burned, and then the ashes are eaten.

Who keeps beer long enough to find out?

I'm currently aging some Trader Joe's brand limited run beer that was surprisingly made by Unibroue (best brewery in the world in this beer snob's opinion 😛 - at least for non-IPA's). It'll be ready to drink in a year, maybe 14 month. Dogfish Head has a couple brews that get better with some aging as well.

If it looks okay, smells okay and tastes okay it's okay. Beer doesn't get dangerous like canned foods, if it goes bad it'll just taste skunky, it won't kill you.
