Does Band of Brothers ever get interesting?

After many recommendations I bought this on BluRay. Does it ever get interesting? I've watched the first 3 episodes and I am not sure I want to waste another hour or two to find out. I usually like war movies, but this series hasn't lived up to its reputation from what I've watched so far, what is it that makes it so special? So far it's been a pretty generic war flick. Does it ever get interesting?

Locked per OP's request. Since most of the replies are pretty negative, he got the point. Thread closed. -Admin DrPizza

fail hard. Fail harder.

repeat of previous comments.

Though I haven't watched it in a while. I used to drink and start to watch it, and then I'd try to smoke a cigarette whenever they smoked in the episode.

I've quit since.

I liked several of the fighting episodes but then I got bored and didn't finish the series. Dunno if I ever will.

You are missing the nuance of being a "band of brothers".

These men are living in utter hell for months or years at a time and they persevere, even through personal loss, injury, death, etc.

Its less about the war, more about the men in the war and what came out the other side of it all.

If you don't like it from the beginning you probably won't like the rest of it.

I liked it all the way through, and I thought it was great from the first episode.

No, it never does.

I can't emphasize enough how lucky you are that I deigned to answer your plaintive whine in this thread, and provide you with this invaluable informational tidbit. For, otherwise, you may have spent several additional minutes of your no-doubt busy and important life attempting to derive viewing pleasure from this inconsequential and boring snooze fest.

The Gods have smiled on you.

Almost no one has died an incredibly bloody slow-motion cinematic death in those first three episodes YOU have somehow managed to sit through, amirite?

Well, good sir, tell you whut ahm gwine do. Send me this obviously defective Blu-Ray compilation, and I, sterling chap that I am, will reimburse you IN FULL for up to 60% of your mailing costs upon receipt, or shortly after the Mayan prophesy predicted end of the universe in 2012, whichever occurs second.

You have my incontrovertible internet word on this, or my real life name isn't Perknose.

As I'm with everyone else on here, I'll have your Blu-Rays that you've disgraced by not liking.

Kthx, PM me with finalization and I'll give you my shipping info.

The first episode is dull, while they are doing training, but once they are on the front lines its all good.

Oh Luz, there you go again with your jokes! You're so funny!

The first episode is probably my favorite. It really shines after you've seen the series and go back and watch it again, since you know all the characters.

ATOTs definitely got a hard on for BoB. I remember it being pretty interesting though, and having lots of action...unlike The Pacific (even though it was nominated for 1000 emmys it was pretty lame)
