Does ATOT need an overhaul?

Should ATOT get an overhaul?

  • Yes! It looks boring and I dig change.

  • No! I like it just the way it is.

  • Get lost! Loser.

  • Is this Mayne?

Waggy is right. It's best to choose your battles, lest you get into a protracted land war. I mean, I have no problems going head to head with the guy, but trying to respond to every comment, or even every post, is a losing proposition. He makes up for in quantity what he lacks in quality; if you play on his terms his confusion fu will eventually get the best of you simply because it's impossible to sift through that much bullshit in real time.

Also, his favorite tactic is probably to flatly deny reality, which is hard to counter because it's inherently illogical. We all know that 1=1, but he will argue that 1=3 all day long, and proving 1=1 is hard because... one just equals one, there's not much that can be said on the topic.

can i give you some advice? When dealing with alky it's best to ignore him. You will lose. Not because he will out debate you but he will get the last word. You will get in more trouble no matter if you are right.

add in then that the thread will then be cleaned up with all the BS alky does will be gone.

I have found it's best to ignore the fuck. He is just not worth the infractions you will get over it.

though this thread is a great example to the mods on what is wrong. yet again just like the rest of them this will be ignored.

Good call.

I am respectful that this is their forum.

And yet you break their rules all the time and piss all over their forum treating everyone like shit constantly, making up lies left and right, shitting all over otherwise good threads and turning them into arguments about you, you, you.

How respectful.

Yet you are the one doing this now.

and here you are replying after having started the shit show

Ok? Now you are just being obtuse.

You are calling me out now on something you are doing.

That's what they call ironic, absurd, and the like.

If you reply, I will reply unless it's close-ended.

I'm not turning this thread into all about me. I'm calling you out on your turning yet another of countless threads into a thread about you.

No, other than the recent ninja font change, the forum itself is fine, if there are problems, those would be some of the members.

and you are practically begging for a reply in this.

So to get back on topic, what do you want changed here other than me?

You are looking at a small subset of the members here above. Most of these same members above are members of a forum designed to conspire against AnandTech due to many of them being banned for not obeying our rules and again are butt hurt that they get in trouble when they violate things.

What's funny to me is if that place is so great, why don't the usual suspects just play there.

IMHO the answer is they like being disruptive here.

The part in bold up there is an outright lie. It's also stupid beyond belief.

CHAOS cannot be read by many.

CHAOS can be read by any registered member. Any mod from here is welcome to create an account and read every word in there. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if at least one of them didn't already have an account.

Mod callout, bro. If you have a problem with the mods, take it to Moderator Discussions.

According to many of the above, there is no one 'important' on AT.

Why don't you participate more instead of complaining?

I do participate but I don't comment in 3 posts for every point like you do.

There needs to be an ignore button so I stop seeing posts by some but other then that, seems to work pretty well. I use tapatalk on ipad most the time. There is not really much you can do about what it looks like.

I would like to see one minor addition - when you are posting an autosave should pop up every minute until the post is made. I am not sure if VBulletin 3.8.7 has this feature but I know 4.2.2 does.

Admittedly torn.

On one hand, I very much appreciate the simplicity and old-school-ness of the AT forums.

On the other hand, I can't count the number of times I have wished I could "like" a post without having to comment on it.

On the original hand, that I want to "like" a post fills me with the kind of shame that only a Facebook-hating Facebook-user can understand.

There is an ignore function, but it's half-useless. Put a name in the list, and posts from that name will appear as "you can't see this post because XYZ is on your ignore list", you can then click to expand it if you still want to see the post. You can also see the post if it's quoted in someone else's post, and you can still see the threads they make.

I tried it once but all it does is block the content, you can still see the posts so it still breaks the flow of the thread.

I view the ignore function as more of a statement than a solution. It's the announcement that you're putting someone on ignore that matters, not the act of doing it.

I frequent a relatively stylish forum. We have Google and Facebook integration. You can like or dislike a person's post. You can preview post without clicking on the link. They have emoticons that move and dance! Move and dance!! You can even private message the mods.

Basically, it has the whole kitten kaboodle! 😱

Would you like to see ATOT get an overhaul or stay the same?

whats a kitten kaboodle?

Nice to know but does sound as you put it, half useless.
