Does ATOT need a 21+ or an 18+ forum?

I was wondering the same thing when I saw the reason for the lock, but the majority of this forum is underage kids.

I don't think so, there are hundreds of online forums for those type of things. This is a computer forum, people can go else where for their tobacco threads.

locking a thread about tobacco when a child can walk down just about any street and breathe second hand smoke 😕

maybe cnn should ban articles about tobacco

Look at the topics being discussed in Off Topic.

Wanna rethink that "computer forum" statement?

Mod lock for?
Considering the fact that tobacco use is illegal for many here, this thread will be locked.

So do we need a new forum for R movies, Mature Video games, alcohol, tobacco, and firearms?
i cry foul. Sampson needed another tongue lashing for being a presumptious bastard, and now the thread is locked.

wtf? they locked it for that? what abotu all the threads about alcohol and sex and drugs and the multitude of other things?

Answer to OP: Yes we do

As for the mod: you're WRONG BUDDY!!!!!! It is illegal to BUY tobacco in the US (and alot of the world) if you are under 18 but it is NOT illegal to use it. If you steal it from your dad you can go hang out at the police station and smoke it (as long as they allow smoking). We used to do it all the time when I was 16. We would get cigarettes from my friend's dad and light up in front of cops intentionally. They would come try to write us a citation and we'd tell them to learn the law. Didn't make many friends but tobacco use under the age of 18 is perfectly legal.

EDIT: I too support if you're going to lock a thread even though it is not illegal (I know you thought it was) you need to lock sex/drinking threads. That stuff is actually illegal and you let it go all the time.

They locked the thread because some people here are underage? What??? Hey, they should lock all the car threads now because most of the kiddies here are under the driving age.

Take it up with the Mods.

They control the standards, however, you may get a ruling in your favor

Well if it would mean that we could discuss things that would normally be locked in said area then yes I am for it, but how would you keep kids out of it?

Make them list a credit card in their name. It doesn't get charged but they have it. That's how most 18+ forums do it.

what standards? there is no standard. each mod has his/her own ideas. also, making regular posters mods is a sever conflict of interest because whats to stop a mod from doing something to someone who pissed him off under his regular name?

Good idea, but we all know the decision is only left up to one party.

Not going to get into it, but it's been an issue in the past.
