I really like the game profiles in the new Nvidia drivers (diff AA/AF setting for each game). Does ATI have something similar?

What are you talking about? Of course it does.

You can create and use as many profiles as you like. App-specific profiles have been there since catalyst 4.1 or so.

there's profiles, but don't you have to choose them manually from the control panel?

Found and made profiles, how do you switch quickly? Do I have to goto the video control panel and click the tabs?

You can use a number of methods to choose them.

Use the ATi taskbar icon. Also you might be able to use hot keys as well though I haven't tried this yet.

so, in other words, ati doesn't have a similar "game profiles" feature like the new nv drivers do lol... as rv originally stated. :p

you don't need to manually load a different profile for each different app every time you run it.

with nv drivers you specify the executable, so once set up, the driver automatically loads the profile when you launch the app.

there's even predifened profiles which have separate game profiles for single-player use versus multiplayer; perfect for those who play a mix of sinple-player and multi. when playing in single player mode frame rate often takes a backseat to image quality whereas in multiplayer, maintaining a high frame rate is far more crucial. you can, of course, create your own as well.

So? Where does the poster specify that he wants profiles to automatically change? Read his question carefully instead of making blanket comments that ATi doesn't have application profiles.

Probably based on executable string and/or path which can potentially break if one or the other is changed.

in his question: "I really like the game profiles in the new Nvidia drivers (diff AA/AF setting for each game). Does ATI have something similar?" ati has profiles, but they are dissimilar in execution.

Probably based on executable string and/or path which can potentially break if one or the other is changed.

and that has what, exactly to do with this? other than what appears as just another example of your going out of your way to find fault in something you don't own.

Huhh? we in trouble.

Well, I've got both ATI and Nvidia rigs running the latest drivers from each, Catalyst definately does not have game profiles like the latest Forceware Nvidia drivers. I know what the OP was asking, and I do like the option of setting up the seperate profiles for each game so that it runs automatically.

Oh and Don't worry, Catalyst drivers aren't hanging by my input in any event:)

ATI has it on macs and will need it for Longhorn. Once the desktop has 3D support (like OSX) they will need it. It's coming, according to some posts I read from Terry.
