Their return policy and methods for defective DOA equipment is crappy. It requires faxing and waiting until they get back to you.

Their rating Reseller Ratings of Atacom is 4.9 on a 7.0 scale. Not great, but not as bad as others.

I have ordered 3 600MHz Durons unlocked from them and never had any problems with delivery or defects. All 3 of my Durons hit 900 (well one did until I killed it mounting a heat sink, but we won't talk about that ...).

There policies, as you have heard and can read, are not the best in the world ... It could very well be a hit and miss thing.

I can say that I would certainly consider using them again. Your mileage may vary ...

I had a nasty experience w/ ATACOM.

4 months ago I tried ordering a P3 700Mhz "retail" cBo processor from them. When I got the package, it was a OEM processor and it was defective, it wouldn't run at 700Mhz at all, it would only run at 466Mhz (7x66Mhz). I called them up to yell at them at there mistake and even though I had all the proof that they messed up some guy who couldn't speak English correctly kept saying I got what I paid for (I always thought Retail cpus came in a box myself but not from what that moron said). Then I sent it back to them for a full refund, and for 4 weeks I never got a single dime from them. I called them up and asked them what's going on, they said they kept trying to e-mail me (which after 10 minutes of talking i made the guy slip up and he confessed he didn't send ANY e-mails) to say that the warranty of the Processors was over and that the only way possible for me to get anything was to pay them $50 for a replacement. Again, i thought retail processors had a 3 YEAR warranty. The jacka$$ still wouldn't look at the bill of sale to see that I ordered a BOXED RETAIL Processor... I told him i wanted to speak to his manager and he had the balls to tell me NO. I then tried calling for 5 days after the first phone call to see if someone else from that place would pick up and each damn time it was the same guy....So I had no choice but to just paid the $50 bucks and get a new oem processor that I quickly sold to someone else and I told atacom to go f*ck themselves..

Then i went AMD......

Also, when i ordered my barebones from them , it took them 1 week to process order, then they said it was mysteriously canceled? then i had to reinstate the order, and they didnt have some of the parts i wanted that were on their site...then finally 1 more week to process order and still nothing, i live 20 miles away from them, and it took them 2 weeks to finish and ship the computer to me

ATACOM is suck. I had the misfortune to order my Duron a day before the price DECLINE, and it dropped 20 bucks to 94.95. I was pissed, sent numerous emails that were ignored and finally received a reply from them in Broken Engrish that the price I paid would stand. I know the CPU market is volatile, but they should at least have 7 day price protection. After dealing with Crucial and Dell, as well as many smaller retailers, Atacom offers no customer support, impolite employees that speak little english and a really lame website.

They will never see another penny from me.

I ordered a p3 700E OEM cb0 from them and didnt have any problems and shipping was pretty fast too. I ordered in the time when cb0s were new in the market so i was a bit skeptical whether i was gonna get an actual cb0 but i did. The chip dpes 1ghz easy with the proper cooling.

All the Retail Processors I have bought (Intel) have allways come in a box and have had a three year warranty. You should contact Intel and let them know someone is selling OEM as retail. If enough people complain to Intel who knows.

Also remember in retail one happy customer tells five, one disgruntled customer tells ten. So everyone make sure and tell your ten people about these morons at atacom.com

Atacom is suck. I ordered a BH6 and a case in late '98 and the power supply was DOA. I RMA'ed it and sent it back, but 2 weeks later I called them to see where mine was, and they had lost all information about my RMA! They wouldn't send me a new one, so I eventually gave up and bought a power supply locally (almost the price of the Enlight case BTW :p) The language issue is real too :disgust:

It's not worth it!

Hmmm, bought an ASUS AGP-V7700 Pure through them a few months ago. No problems at all (Of course I didn't have to use the phone with them at all).

I think there ok They Ship fast I ordered 3 Duron 600s from them the normal ones at the lowest price and they sent all 3 unlocked when they were charging extra for those ones and all 3 did 1 GHz. I have order a couple MBs from them no trouble. As long as you dont have to call them there ok LOL
