i should soon be a full-time cashier there.. (yay?) ... IF i passed my drug test :*(

has anyone worked there? is it an ok place to work? it definitely seems to be a step up from jc penney hehe... a little bit of a wage increase... more hours... NO MORE FOLDING CLOTHES!!! 😛

(sorry if you find this thread pointless, im extremely bored at school)

UPDATE: i got the job 😀 😀 now i just need to give my two weeks at my current job.. is it rude to do it over the phone? :X im scared of my boss!

now you can have nerds come in and hit on you 😉

I worked there for 4 years.... stopped workin there about 3 years ago.... was a good place to learn a lot about computers, but theyve really changed as a store since then...

where you gonna be workin?

Never worked there, but if it's like any other retail job, it probably sucks ass. Hope it works out though. 😀

Sounds a heck of a lot better than folding clothes. I absolutely cannot standing folding clothes at work let alone my own clothes at home🙂

Does anyone else find it hard to believe that you learn about computers at CompUSA? Not just CompUSA in particular, but ANY large chain like that. I can't tell you how many times I've been there buying something and snickered at the BS an employee was feeding a customer to make a sale, or pretend they knew the answer to a question.

I just left CompUSA after 1 year of employment. It's a fate I don't wish on anyone. Forget about ever spending time with family or friends again. You'll be expected to work everyday, all day. And certainly don't forget about pitching TAP, AOL, add-ons, etc. Finally, whatever you do it will never be enough. No one remembers what you did yesterday, it's all about what you've done today. It sucks. But good luck

In my opinion that's how most crappy jobs are. IE 7 Eleven, McDonalds, anything like that.

theres actually a lot of girls that work there 😛

Which store? 😀

(kidding) 😛

CompUSA should just hire women as their salespeople. They'd be more likely to persuade the sex-starved nerds, and probably not any more incompetent than the people they already have doing sales at most stores.

After all, it works for Hooters.

"probably not any more imcompetent"? you should be shot. or kicked in your balls. something along those lines.

but yeah.. it would help increase sales to the sex-starved nerd population.

You make it sound like you had to study or something. How hard is it to "pass" a drug test?

Are you going to hook up all us Hot Dealers with pricematches now? 😀 CompUSA sucks for PMs.

was it a urine test? if so, then as long as you hadnt done anything in the past like 48 hours, then no problem.

if it was a hair test, then you = screwed. 🙂

it was urine. i took tons of niacin the last couple of days and wasted $20 on a "detox" drink but at least it made me feel like it was doing something.

oh, i studied hard for this one.

I did a stint there for a few weeks. Management sucked big time at the one I worked at. I'm sure it'll be fine there. Good luck on your new job.

well based on my 20 minutes with one of the managers they seem really cool there.. theyre "like family"... but thats what every company says. but yeah she was really cool. i dont like the managers at my current job so i doubt it can get much worse.. at least ill have more hours and higher pay.

Well good luck with your new job. I'm surprised that JC Penny isn't paying people more. When I worked at Compusa, it was about 8 per hour. Prepare yourself for the balistic customers that come and yell at you when

(1) You run out of the sales items Sunday morning (the 3 that Compusa stocked to begin with) or you never had them in the first place
(2) There's no one there to help the customer -- because they're all busy helping other people -- and you haven't got a clue what they're talking about.. and what are you doing just standing around talking to your fellow cashiers? This is right about when they scream at you that they're going to Best Buy and that they're never going to ever spend another dime in this store and they're telling all their frends not to either.
(3) When the POS check system rejects the customer's check -- OR -- your register locks completely up when reading their check-- OR -- you sit on hold for 10 minutes trying to call in the check because the POS check system said to -- fun fun fun

It was rare that the 14 day 15% restocking free return policy was ever enforced. Funny how many people go right by the huge signs and sign slips with it written right on it and never see it.

I also remember this lady they hired that could do nothing but talk about replacement plans. She went so far as to threaten customers that they wouldn't be able to return products after 14 days and told them they could get free upgrades. They finally fired her...
