Does anyone watch Bar Rescue?

New show on tonite. :awe:

It's a little over the top, but it is very entertaining.

Only one I have seen was on the one they did to the bar in my home city. It is basically just for show, but I doubt anyone with an IQ over room temperature doesn't know that already.

The "new name" and sign were taken down the next day. The new bar top and molding they put in were very cheap and started falling apart fairly quickly.

Basically the show uses the bar for a shooting location for cheap mind-numbing "reality" TV, and the bar uses the show for a little exposure and cheap upgrades.

I am guilty of watching more than one of the restaurant version that is hosted by that British roid-monkey chef when it is on late at night. :$

You realize watching those shows is exactly the same as encouraging trolls on the forums, right?

i've seen every episode. john taffer is the man. he's a very smart guy and yeah he's totally over the top, but the show is entertaining and he's very passionate. he's about as over the top as gordon ramsey is on hells kitchen and kitchen nightmares, which are also entertaining.

I believe the show spends about $10k to transform the bar. Not a bad deal considering it's free. I know it's a reality show, and it's all done for ratings. The before and after shots of the bars they transform are dramatic.

John Taffer has a big mouth, but he does know his shit. These bar owners are normally $200K in debt. Some of these bars are absolutely disgusting. There was a bar that had a racoon running around and he was leaving feces on the floor. 😱

All of those shows where they do a 3 day remodel or build a house in a week are a joke. I've gone in and cleaned up a project that was done for some local garden station, it was very poorly done. The entire point and scope was to look good on TV, quality and serviceability were never even considered.

John is a smart guy. He has over 30 years of experience, and he has transformed thousands of bars. I love it when the bar owners who are $200k in debt argue with John because they think they can do it better. Then, when John leave they tear everything down and revert right back to where they were. It doesn't make much sense.

The Piratez Tavern is the perfect example. The owner was $900k in debt! When John left she went right back to her old ways.

i've been to that bar before too, before it was ever on bar rescue. it's odd but it was kind of a neat premise. i didn't really have any issues with the place, we knew what it was and called it the "pirate bar". we would just go to hang out in the back. but yeah, i saw that episode and it was lame how they went back to their original idea so probably didn't do very well after.

last nights episode was great, first time he's ever flat out walked out. glad he did though that place was a wreck.

and yes, his wife's tits are great.

I`ve been there...I don`t know how come you claim that the work done was with cheap materials.....it looked fine to me!

So basically, he does the exact same thing that Gordon Ramsey does on his show?

Fox just edits Kitchen Nightmare with dramatic music to make it look like Gordon is yelling more than he is. They also like having some sort of family drama in each episode.

Youtube some of the UK episodes of Kitchen Nightmares. It's way better and more about the food than anything.

Yeah...it's basically GR's Kitchen Nightmares without as much swearing and less emphasis on food and more emphasis on poor service (and pour service!)...

Bars, like restaurants, can't be a success just anywhere. You have to have a good location, regular customers (locals or tourists), and finally you have to provide customers with something they are willing to come back for. Most bars that I've seen on that show are all dives or old bars that are almost beyond help....that's where the "rescue" part comes...

They show the bars 6 months later and tell how they're doing. I wonder though, how many of the bar owners try to sell their business after being renovated.

I watch it for Mrs Taffer's tits.

It's a fun show. The formula wears thing pretty quick though. I'll watch all those rescueshows for a little while and get tired of them. I'm sure that's common among viewers. Then they go too far to trump up some drama. I'll suspend my disbelief for a while, but the bubble eventually pops.

They go in sometimes and change the bar around BEFORE the show, then come in and "fix" what they changed in the first place. They have people lie about the food that is just fine. They have the bar tell people they're closed the day of taping, then they bring the cameras into the bar (that nobody is at because the place is closed) to show how there's no business.

The entire show is 100% fraud. Might have been something to it in the beginning, but now they just look for a location, "create" a problem, then "fix" it.

It's TV. Don't look at it as anything else but fiction.

That's your link. I wrote it, it's true. I don't B.S. anywhere, even on forums where other idiots love to troll.

If you want further confirmation, just google "Bar Rescue Fake", and you'll find tons of articles where people that owned the bars say these things.

All reality shows like this are fake. I can't believe there's anyone that thinks different.

There's a level of fakeness but a lot of it can be attributed to editing. I don't watch Bar Rescue but here's an AMA from a production guy on Kitchen Nightmares.

ok so you don't have a link, gotcha.

and doing what you said doesn't show "tons of articles" at all and only shows 1 article about that piratz tavern which isn't even claiming everything is fake about the episode

and i've been to piratz tavern years ago and it was a dump.

Are you blind?

I clicked your google link:

Iadanza insists that “Bar Rescue” producers coached bar employees during taping to get them to say certain things or to say things in a different way.

“It’s not reality,” Iadanza said.

“We did not hire any actors for cast members; we want to make that very clear,” she said. “The show let Brandon know that they were understaffed for the stress test, so it’s not uncommon for bar owners to bring in new people.”

A stress test is when the show stresses the staff with lots of business to see how it handles the pressure.

I had heard of these shenanigans right after the show was taped. It's B.S.
