With todays low cost storage, it's not worth the trouble. It also slows the system down some what.

It appears to be simple software-based compression; it doesn't work on compressed formats like JPEG or MPEG or plain ZIP. Only potential use I see is for bulky old software that still has to be runnable (ie not much use).

I would have to go with the universial computer answer... Depends...

If you have a bunch of MP3/JPG/AVI etc.... then no it's pretty much useless....

If you have some network apps you are serving our are storing roaming profiles... then it is actually pretty handy... You can grab back some space from the network install of Office 2000 (the KING of bloat) or from space hogging users...

Drives are cheap... unless you are talking about Compaq (or any other server makers) drives... We pay a pretty penny for drives for the servers at work (of course 10,000 RPM LVD SCSI that's hotswappable is VERY nice)
