Do most of you use windows media player classic?

I am intending to watch bittorrent movies, but just can't seem to find a decent player to watch.

I am currently using windows media player 9, so will I be required to download all those codec plug-ins in order to watch the movie comfortably?

Which player do you guys use for everyday entertainment?

Thanks.

Bittorrent movies as in illegal bittorrent movies?

Assuming legality, MPC can play basically anything as long as you have the proper codec installed. If you're not sure about codecs, just get a codec pack such as the K-Lite Codec Pack.

doesn't matter what player you use, you still need to install the right video codecs.

There's no such thing as "torrent movies". BitTorrent is a method for transferring files and the files being transferred could be in any format.

Don't use any of the junk codec packs. This is the best one: Combined Community Codec Pack

Has all the audio-video decoders you will need: DivX, XVid, H.264, Generic MPEG-4, FLV, Vorbis, AC-3, FLAC etc.
You can use the included Media Player Classic or regular Windows Media Player.

Media Player Classic with ffdshow is all I ever need. After downloading and installing ffdshow, I never had to use any codec packs, and I never encountered a file that didn't play. Alternatively, VLC will play 'out of the box" most formats I can think of.

If you have these two, you're set, no matter what strange formats you come across.

I stay away from codec packs now after having one install a codec that caused problems and I went through a lot of trouble to remove.

Now I only install codecs that I need.
Currently Mpeg2,xvid,ac3,mp3.

I use VLC , it was designed to play network stream or incomplete files and it works without having to install any codecs.

Dude, install Media Player Classic, ffdshow and VLC player. You really don't need anything else.

Oh yeah, but back then everyone dialed into bulletin boards and had to pedal to generate power for our 4.77 megahertz processors.
