I was contemplating whether or not to purchase this drive.

Just wondering if anyone has experience with USB 2.0 CDR/W drives, this one in particular.

Thanks

I installed one for a friend, not that model, but a 24X, and it works like a charm. I would rather have internal for neatness, and keeping external drives out of the way. But at school, or hauling it around would be nice too. Installed software, and it was up and rolling, with 9X.

It's not exactly what you are looking for, but I have a DVD-R drive hooked up to my computer via USB 2.0. I've had zero problems with it so far.

I've got the 40x Plextor External USB 2.0 that I use on a few of my rigs and it works just fine, even at 40x. I never get any buffer underruns at all.

I also have the Plexwriter 40/12/40A. This thing works great. I've had no problems at all. It's nice to be able to co to any of my computers, or to work of friends house and be able to back up files or download patches faster (2 way satellite is not that fast but beats dial-up).

That looks like a pretty good deal. I'd go for it.

I have an external Hi-Val USB 6x4x6 CDRW drive....it's kinda slow, and sometimes it doesn't like Nero and eats disks, but when it works it's fine.
