Does anyone use the regular BT client found at BitTorrent.com?

I've been using Azureus for a very long time now but I got the new version of the regular default client and it seems pretty decent. How come no one uses it?

Probably never occured to anyone to switch back. The original was great at doing one thing, and one thing only. I never guessed that the developer would bother improving the default client with other much more fully featured clients out there. He unleashed the protocol, which was enough:)

I used Azureus for awhile, as well, and it was great, but the new standard client is really just fine. I like not having a resource-hog app open for it.

I've used the ncurses bittornado client for as long as I can remember. Azureus is ass because it's Java and GUI, 2 bad attributes.

You might try the above two suggestions, as they are both consume fewer resources than Azureus (which is why I stopped using Azureus), yet offer all of the same features.

I have a question about the BitTorrent idea ...

I thought the original idea of BitTorrent was that bits and pieces of whatever you were downloading were coming from many different places, so it was near impossible to locate file sharers, unlike on napster and what not where peoples usernames and files offered were easily seen.

On the recent BitTorrent movement, everything is "tracked" so peoplecannot get access to things unless they are uploading too, and your IP is everywhere during the process of tracking. Did I miss something, or did the original idea of BitTorrent get thrown out the window somewhere? You are no longer anonymous while using BitTorrent.

No. The idea is that the chunks are coming from everyone involved to maximze bandwidth usage, it has nothing to do with hiding from the RIAA. Infact you get a list of nearly all peers involved just by connecting to the tracker.

I used the default client for a short while, then I switched to Azureus because it was recommended on a forum.
