Does anyone use "shirt stays" or "shirt garters"

I used them in JROTC and now when I wear suits/dress slacks. I've only had a few disconnects, and out of a few, just one hurt - it snapped me in the nuts. I'd recommend them if you're like me and have issues with how your shirts stay tucked in.

my shirt rarely stays tucked in,

did you use the single band style or the Y band style?

My uniforms for work have a bead of silicone around the waist to keep your shirt tucked in. It's good and bad. It's bad because it makes it pretty difficult to adjust your shirt once it's tucked in. It works really well at retaining the tuckness though!

I found some shirt stays (garters) on this website - Supertuks - ordered them, tried them out and WOW, do they ever work well!

They look and feel quite a bit better than most of the other offerings out there like the really plain, generic ones that you can find on E-bay and other such on-line ordering websites. The quality is very much first rate. The pair I originally got I'm still wearing daily - on the job and off - and that was over 2 years ago. They are better than the current offerings - including the latex belt known as the Hidden Tailor (IMO), in many ways:

1. The elastic used is superior, as wide as the straps they use for dress suspenders (1.25 inches). In fact, I believe that the elastics are the same in materials and quality as those used with trouser suspenders, not like the "bra-strap" el-cheapo elastics they use in other shirt stays.

2. The shirt clips are very well made and will not lose the black rubber tabs used to secure the clip to the shirt hem.

3. The clips used to attach to the socks are like those similarly found on trouser suspenders, allowing for quick and easy disengagement without the removal of your slacks. Also, I have not yet had a sock clip become disengaged and snap me in the nards. This is because the stays are of the Y-configuration and are generally worn on the outside of the legs.

4. The 2 "branches" that form the "y'' are allowed free travel through the D-ring at the junction (not fixed like on other shirt stays) allowing more freedom of movement and mobility as you stretch forward or back.

5. Unlike the other shirt stays on the market that make you look kinda stupid when one of the shirt clips comes undone (allowing the bottom strap to drop out from your pantleg and creating questions), Supertuks have a fail-safe elastic cord that prevents the stays from coming apart should a shirt clip detach. The cord will hold the setup together indefinitely until you can get to somewhere private to re-secure them, although you can try reaching in through your fly for a single-handed reattachment. This cord is a first when it comes to shirt stays.

6. Once you get used to them, you won't even feel them anymore. In fact, you'll get so used to them that you'll start to feel weird when you don't have them on especially with the whole 'sock sliding down' thing.

These are just a few points that I can think of.

Have a look at the website sometime and see for yourself!

Oh yeah, they're also made in Canada!!!

I used the garters during basic training for the Air Force. My entire flight used them. They work well and made us all look sharp. I never had one disconnect. Even if it did, you're wearing slacks so the force of the elastic recoil won't snap back and hurt you.

ditto for military school--they were required, but we all know how people like to rebel after their 3rd year...had them disconnect but it didn't hurt. Stop being a pussy.

No i dont mean the girly lady straps you jokers.

I mean the miliary style ones that law enforcement and of course military use like

http://www.qmuniforms.com/prod...y=&status=P4&sku=P1206

those ones.

I know they look queer, im just wondering if they do their job and would like some honest opinions.

Used them in the sevice during Officer School.

Also, when visiting other bases (for the professional look), I would wear them.

When in my blues and working in the office/labs, I did not bother.

Ours were the single band. Shirt tale to the socks.

I'm so confused... do you people not wear a belt?

Belts keep the pants up, not the shirt in.

Shirt is wanted to be kept in and wrinkle free. When one stands back up, it is pulled back down.

No way. This is not possible. A spammer signed up for ATOT to pimp SHIRT STAYS?

Yo! I'm an extra large guy who happened to find the things amazing! I tried other things that either didn't work, or wouldn't fit me properly due to my size. If you don't like 'em, don't buy 'em!

I'm not computer literate enough to be a "spammer."

You forgot the free ipods.

I used them when I was in ROTC. Never came off and whipped my nuts or anything. You don't pull them that tight. They are semi loose.

No, but i thought of this idea a few years ago because it seeemd we needed them and a bunch of people told me the idea was stupid. I knew they were wrong. Apparently none of us had heard these had already been invented, but there IS indeed a market for them so F you naysayers!

Well, thank you for reincarnating a 10 year dead thread. Without this wonderful necro, we might not have ever known about your wonderful product...

Recently I switched from wearing jeans to slacks at work. Everyone started to tell me that I had to wear a belt. I don't wear belts so I started to untuck my shirt. Now no one tells me I have to wear a belt.

I hope I do not derail the thread.
