Does anyone use an Invision Power Board and know how to administer it?

I've read all I can on Forum-forum.com and forumgeeks.com but can't figure out some basic things for this board.

For some reason the new Categories and Forums that I am trying to add don't display on the board itself but they show up in the 'Your Categories and Forums' section of 'Forum Control' in the Administrator Control Panel as being added.

Any ideas what I am doing wrong or what resource I should be using to get an answer. Btw, I am using the free trial version.

Set the proper permissions.

I will pay for it if I find that it meets my needs. I am trying to decide between Invision Power Board and vBulletin.

I think I know what's wrong.

Login to cPanel, click Fantastico, click InvisionBoard, UNINSTALL "directorygoeshere" then re-install it again using the same username/password.

Let me know when you're finished.

RossMAN, I had to go into the :

Forum Control >> Manage Forums >> Permissions then I checked each box for various types of 'forum masks' (whatever they are) then the forums were visible.

Any idea how I change the default Invision Board logo (.gif)...How do you edit the code?

Login via FTP or login to cPanel (click File Manager) then find the directory which is something like this

public_html/directorygoeshere/html/

Poke around, you're looking for logo.jpg

Why edit the code? Create a new logo to the size specs of the current logo and replace the old logo with the new logo .gif file.

Don't do things the hard way.

Oh, and, by the way, wrong forum.

Right click on the current image. Choose properties. URL will let you know where the logo is and what to name it.

Or he can load up the forums, right-click on the logo and go to properties. That will tell him right where the logo is being stored.

Why would you need cpanel to do that?

Because "FTP and notepad" is lost on Ross. :p

cPanel is terrible. The only reason I log into it is to create ftp accounts and databases. Other than that, I have no need for it at all.

He doesn't.

He can use either FTP or cPanel (File Manager).

I'm in cPanel but I keep getting:

EDIT>>> I finally got in! I found the file.

Holy crap! It looks like a person might need to know alot more than html to make significant changes to this board. I am looking at file 'index.php ' under the main directory and I have no idea how or what to edit.

Does anyone know how to add pictures to the side margins? Do I create frames and insert the pics in the appropriate frame(s)?

Can you give us an example (like another forum) of what you're asking?

ATOT has banner ads (sometimes they are .gifs or Macromedia Flash) that are similiar to what I want to do. I just want to place pictures in the top and side margins of the forum.
