If you do, does it make you hypoglycemic?

I currently take 2 500mg tabs in the morning and 2 in the evening with food but they always make me feel crappy. i was wondering if anyone else took this and it was a normal thing?

Moved at OP's request.

Is this the dosing recommended by a physician? If not, i'd try halving your intake: 1 morning, 1 evening. If this is the recommended dosing, call your physician and see what you can do to adjust the dosing to avoid feeling low.

Metformin by itself cannot make you go hypoglycemic but the glipizide can definitely do that. The 500 mg tablets are the metformin. Those can be really hard on the stomach. You mentioned that you are already taking it after a meal. You can wait a few weeks and see if that helps with the nausea, otherwise they do make an extended release metforming which is a little easier on the stomach and you typically take it once daily. What is the dose of the glipizide?

More importantly, how do you know that you are hypoglycemic? Are you using a blood glucose meter?

the pills i'm taking are a combo pill of glipizide/metformin together. I talked with my doc, he wants me to take my blood sugars after i start feeling hypoglycemic then he'll adjust on what he finds. i am happy to hear that.

thanks!
