just wondering. It took me a year to do a DOOM level and it's something like 260Kb which is BIG for DOOM but by the time I finished it the game had passed on.

That's OK . . . It'll be good practice for the (upcoming) Doom 2000 - Whenever Carmack says it's ready!

I still keep Win98 around still for such gaming treasures as Doom, Doom 2 and Quake that wont run in win2k.

I still play Doom once in a while. I should probably go out to buy a black trenchcoat and a few sidearms to match.

anyway, I used to play Quake, but don't have it anymore. QuakeII is cool, but gets boring unless you're playing deathmatch or something. QIII owns. Thief owns. Soldier of Fortune owns. I own.

I just gave my old 233 AT box to a relative for a "web surfer / intro to computing" toy . . . I figured 'about 2 weeks' and, sure enough, they ask "Do you still have any of the old games you were playing for this".

Mwahahahaha . . .

I just found the original Doom floppies; and I know I still have Doom II, Ultimate Doom, and 2 or 3 of the D'Zone .WAD's CD's . . .

Don't play Doom II anymore although I do play a game many would say is ancient -- Quake II. Play it in CTF mode multiplayer. Have tried Quake III, Half_life Team Fortress (too slow), and Unreal Tournament (OK), but never found them to be as fluid and interesting or tense as Quake 2 CTF. Plus I have never found ANYTHING that compares to the satisfaction of the Railgun.

I remember (a long time ago) this gal I was seeing and I would "fool around" and I would hurry it up so I could get back to playing Doom II!!! :D Needless to say she left (thank god). I still play Q2 a lot, but when the wife wants some time...I now turn off the machine for the night!

amen :)

but the railgun in Quake2 doesn't even compare to the rail in Quake3.

NicColt,

I'm located near the Bytown Cinema. I'm moving in 3 weeks on the corner of York & King Edward, just north of Rideau. We should get together sometimes for a brew. :) Then you could tell people that I am really not the maniac that some think I am...if you survive the encounter, that is. ;)

BTW, I think that Zuni also lives in Kanata (soon to be part of Ottawa anyway ;)).

Cheers

Denis

"this gal I was seeing and I would "fool around" and I would hurry it up so I could get back to playing Doom II!!!"

Not what I would have done. But then again, I'm French Canadian! ;)

Doom and Castle Wolfenstein were all time classics. They cannot be replaced. I try to play doom once in a while. It works great when you have a few computers and play it on a network. Rise of the Triad is also a great one.

What over games similar to DOOM are out there?

Well I've got a game that Id released called Shadow Warrior which was great, if only that game supported D3D or OpengGl that would have been one hell of a game. Nice storyline, plot, humour and action t'was great.

"Rise of the Triad" had so much possibility but fade rather quickly.

Kami you are dead wrong!!!

the quake2 railgun is so instant! BANG!!!!!, nothing beats the quake2 railgun for immediately busting up an opponent.

the quake3 railgun pales in comparison, its slower and not as destructive
