Does anyone still play boardgames?

Monopoly is always great. The game usually starts out fun but man once properties start drying up, people can get all ruthless and start yelling and fighting. Gets to the point where someone's so pissed off and says "SCREW THIS GAME!" and overturns the table. Good times!

We do when we have friends over for dinner or something. Not usually just with my wife and I though. But if we had kids I'm sure we would.

We normally play group things like Pictionary, Outburst, Catch Phrase, etc.

Most of the friends with whom we used to play board games have moved away, but not too many years ago it was a regularly scheduled event in our lives.

We especially liked playing Risk and Cranium, among others.

We play board games pretty often when we get together with people. Outburst is probably my favorite when playing with a group, since it is team-based and doesn't put pressure on anyone individually.

Uno - we have regular, Star Trek, Simpsons, Muppets, and a few others.

Son & I play a lot of scrabble (I can usually beat him) and chess (he ALWAYS beats me). We also have Simpsons Clue and Boggle.

I want LOTR Monopoly for my birthday.

My 6 year old, my wife and I play monopoly, uno attack, pokemon master trainer, chutes and ladders, and we're just learning Heroscape.

I play Warhammer 40K but I'm waiting till my son gets a little older for that.

He loves Dawn of War though and he's pretty good at it even on Insane setting!

You all fail at the board game thread.

Seriously, how can you have a thread about board games without linking THE board game site on the net? BoardGameGeek.

Oh, just don't mention you play Monopoly there. Or Cranium. DEFINATLEY not Cranium. Or Scrabble or Boggle or Risk (that's another 'DEFINATELY NOT'). Pictionary, Outburst, Parcheesi, Sorry, etc.

Settlers is good, actually!

All those 'not' games are generally considered entry level "kids" games there.

Think about the reaction techies have if someone is going on about how awesome their new "Intel" PC is and how much better "Intel" is over AMD when it turns out they just plopped down a grand for a Celeron 1.4ghz system or so and you've got an Athlon64. Kinda the same thing. 'Monopoly', 'Risk', 'Cranium', etc are considered technically boargames, but boardgames for people who don't really know anything.

From my profile over there, you can see that I'm something of a wargamer. Which is another niche within the hobby entirely.

Liars Dice

Chronology

For the past 2 years I have been a part of a weekly couples game night.

My favorite card game is..

Skip-bo

i played some strip monopoly this weekend

well not strip, but definitely monopoly.

i gave up the boardwalk and the 4th railroad to my friend who already had the 3 others in exchange for marvin gardens to make the yellow monopoly. (park place was still up for grabs). it wasnt a big mistake, but he made a killing on the RRs and hit park place so it was curtains.

the greatest board game of all time is GUESS WHO? !!!

my sister and I could play that for HOURS!

"does your person have facial hair?"
