does anyone sell on amazon? the fees are worse than ebay?

is it really? I don't remember that being the cost structure last time I checked, but I don't actually sell on there

i did for a while, currently theyre holding $500 of mine for 6 months.. Apparently my amount of feedback didnt match the amount of items i'd sold!! So obviously I was a fraudster, eh? And getting people to leave feedback is a real bitch.

I just sold something on eBay. Forgot what a racket they have going along with Paypal. Fees for everything!

You had more or less feedback than what you sold?

I sold a text book for $40 and got $29.XX. That's a tad over 25%.

I sold a bunch of books - made about 400 bucks. I knew I was getting screwed, just didn't care. I think I was paying roughly 15% total back when I did it - sounds like they've raised the fees quite a bit. I know for a fact I didn't have a listing fee, or a closing fee. They just took a certain amount from each transaction.

for the item i sold i got much more than i would if i sell it on ebay. I sold a used GPS for $120 + 5 dollar shipping automatically attached, the thing i bought new for $140 and on ebay it goes for ~$90. I get about 100 back from amazon, won't be able to get this price on ebay or in FS/FT.

I only sell on Craigslist now. I can ignore the lowballers if I choose, ignore the people that act like they might be trouble and don't have to worry about Paypal bending me over.

ebay is generally around 9-10%, then paypal takes another ~3%.

ya, and the best part is the $500/month transfer limit so I can't even transfer all of my proceeds to my bank account

I don't want to confirm my credit card of give them my SSN. Bastards.

funny, if you did #2 you wouldn't have problems with #1.

Guess what you have to give up if you want to sell on Amazon?

Amazon's higher fees are partially offset because they actually pay for the cost of shipping. But the fees are still higher than eBay.

Amazon is good in some situations, though. The listings stay up much longer and IMO they're easier to find. Plus eBay just has a much shadier reputation.

Amazon might be slightly better for items that could take a long time to sell.

so exactly how long do they stay posted?

you mean the shipping they charge the customer?

Yeah, that cost actually gets credited to the seller. I sold some textbooks on Amazon years ago.

I don't remember exactly how long they stay listed, I think it was a couple months.

No listing fees is kinda nice, you only get charged if you sell something.

I found it more convenient than eBay. Pay a little more, get a better experience.
