Apparently the original one is still open.
It's also interesting to note that the restaurant name didn't have anything to do with the book in the first place, that apparently came about afterwards.

Have they removed decorations associating it with the book?

What was wrong with the book?
Wasn't it about a little boy who outsmarted some tigers in India?
I remember that place:thumbsup:Originally posted by: ManyBeers
Yes i do . There was a Sambo's on the corner of Campbell Ave. and San tomas Acquino Rd. in Campbell Ca.(suburb of San Jose). in the late 60's early 70's.
Does anyone remember Sambo's? (Lufkin, Tx)
Great.
Now, can you help me remember who bought out that location.
It was another breakfast type diner and was only open for a short
time before it closed.
Also, across the street was a hot dog/icecream store.
Can't remember the name of that place either.
Help?
I was eating pancakes this morning and all of a sudden, memories of tiger butter came rushing into my mind. My family used to eat there every weekend when I was young; their pancakes were the best. This was in Lufkin, TX. PC crowd shut it down though. :|
