I remember when I got my first term program that could display images inline. Before that I had to download all my porn then log off to run the viewer. Once I could see it inline, I could view all my glorious 256 color, dithered GIF porn AS IT DOWNLOADED! My personal favorite BBS was called Cheez and Gritz, run by a friend of a friend of a friend. All the pirated software and porn a teenager in the early 90s could want.

Oh hell yeah... I remember I got in a bunch of trouble when I was like 14 years old because I found a porn version of Swords of Chaos on a long distance BBS and racked up a huge phone bill... Those were the days.

Ah yes... the "elite" boards. I remember I would eventually get to know sysops pretty well and ask them if they have an elite section. If he/she trusted me enough, I would be granted those rights. It was the best feeling in the world! Man, I really miss those days.
What BBS dialup software did you guys use? I mostly used a program called Telemate i think. And Telix. Man, I wish I had my old computer so I can boot it up and go through all my old stuff. I still have all my old floppies from way back though.

I ran a CNet-based BBS named Dreamscape on my C64, 1200 baud, single-line, from 1985 to 1988. Had over 300 users in the greater Nashville metro area. No warez, just chat.

My older brother made our dad buy us our own phone line for our BBS use. My dad would get pissed when I'd call the ones in other counties because they were .25cents per call.
