Does anyone here remember the old BBS days? Man, those were the days. That was pretty much the Internet before the Internet actually existed for the mass public. Was anyone here a SysOp? I used to run a BBS called the Niteclub in Killeen, Texas back in the early 90s. I was just watching this thing documentary called "BBS The Documentary" and it brought back alot of memories.

My older brother made our dad buy us our own phone line for our BBS use. My dad would get pissed when I'd call the ones in other counties because they were .25cents per call.

LOL!! Yeah I think I had Prodigy back then. Man I had a couple sheets of dial up numbers for BBS's at hand and went thru them all nightly!! Being a paying member helped to get extra nodes though. ;) Man, 14.4 was fast then!!

Yeah, my favorite BBS only had 4 lines and it would take an hour just to connect.

It's not on any channel. It's out on DVD or torrent sites. It's like 8 parts. So far I've watched 2. They're about 50 minutes each I believe. Haha, I remember watching the lights on my modem flash a certain way and automatcially know what's going on. I remember the lights would flash a certain way depending on which protocal I would use to DL whether it was Xmodem, Kmodem, Ymodem, or my favorite Zmodem... haha.... Zmodem was awesome because it was bi-directional.

A friend of mine told me about a year or 2 ago that our numbers were still listed in the local free monthly computer publication. Oh, BTW... I ran Spitfire BBS software and also tried Wildcat as well as RoboBBS. I ran this on my 286 16mhz with a whopping 40MB hard drive and 1 meg of ram. I thought I was the shiznits. Now that I think about it, it wasn't that long ago.. I think it was 1991.

Bump for the friday people as well. Share your stories... I'm interested.
