Yes, it was stupid.

I remember one of my friends was hungry, and he saw a bunch of kids playing pogs. So he goes over, wins all their pogs, and trades them all back for a bag of chips they had :D

*note my friend was in elementary school... it isn't like he was an adult who just went over an whupped a bunch of kids :p

He went into the jungle after he heard about giant cats, and was eaten by a tiger.

So the moral of the story for Alf, is that on Earth Cats eat you... (Sorry had to do it)

Too old for Pogs but I do remember collecting Garbage Pale Kids cards and playing with my Skip-it during recess. The counter always broke on those.

I can't believe the artificial value placed on some things... Weren't there some pogs that were worth like 100's of dollars b/c they were "limited edition" or some crap?

they got banned at our school because the massive slammers were putting dents in the floor

Ugh I hated pogs! I used to just win all mine against everone. I had a rare slammer, I forget what made it so rare but the kid i won it off of was ticked. I told him dont bring your good pogs to school! I think they got banned in our school after a kid wizzed one at another kid's head.

Yeah, I remember. They were popular when I was in 7th and 8th grade.

I never participated, though.

olddirtythao ... lol, that happened at my elementary school (I was in the 5th grade... Junior in college now). Wow, I remembered we played FOREVER, nad then one day, they said no more pogs, its gambling. Told my mom, and she called the school. I guess every mom called the school as the next week, Friday was Pog day :)
I for one never bought any pogs. My friend gave me 5, and I used those 5 to collect my thousands (which I threw away about 5 years ago)... seriously, once I got 400, and I traded 300 for one slammer (my first! It was a sucky one with a red skull on it), then I won some more, and traded 50 for a blue clear container.... I ened up for 4 slammers, 1000's of pogs, 4 small containers and 1 big container, and hundreds of lose pogs put into sandwich bags :)

Same here, lol. We were so pissed because they wouldn't allow us to play pogs. I had tons of them, and those expensive "slammers" too! :D

Those were the good ol' days.

I remember wasting my money on them. My friends, though, lol, wanted to start a pogs business. They bought them in lots of 1000 and tried to sell them. Needless to say that didn't work AT ALL.

Oh yeah, pogs were the shizzay...I believe I still have one of my big o' brass 1/2" thick slammers in my storage unit, though I think I threw away most of the pogs a few years ago. :)
