Does anyone own one of those vehicles that selectively shuts down cylinders?

The new Impala uses this as seen here. Not sure which other autos have this technology currently available.

Just curious how it performs and feels.

in theory you shouldn't even notice it, other than the nice effect it has on your pocket book.

Not so much displacement on demand, more like save your engine, but the 5.4L in my F-150 will go down to 4 cylinders if it overheats too much.

why does a family car chevy impala even need a V8 motor? all it's needs is a mid-size engine. But also gm put the dod engines in some of it trucks/suvs too. I think the denali is one of them.

Cadillac was the first to use it back in the late 70s. It was called V8-6-4. It was a POS. Horrid, it was scrapped.

oh, I thought the GM Northstar V12 has DoD too,
in one of the concept car (forgot the name), it will deactivates 6 cylinders and transform into an inline-6, instead of a V6.

Yeah, my Civic Hybrid has VCM

When 3 of the 4 cylinders shutdown, I can easily get over 60MPG. With the CVT and VCM, the drive is seemless.
