I'm trying to get an XP 2000+ to run but having no luck.
I have a spare Athlon 750 that works fine. The computer gets to the windows xp desktop with no problems.

here's a link to the specifications.

http://www.msi.com.tw/program/products/mainboard/mbd/pro_mbd_detail.php?UID=28

The XP 2000+ on the other hand doesn't produce a screen at all.
There's no beep either.
With the Athlon 750, it beeps normally.

Any idea if this board needs a certain bios for the XP to run?

All information helpful.

Edit: I now have 2 XP cpu's that don't work in this board. i bought an XP 2200+ and this too, doesn't work. Both XP cpu's were bought from the forums.
This board has the latest 3.7 bios i believe.

Any idea why these cpu's aren't working?

Yep, got one with a 1600+ (mythtv box)
From the manual, page 1-2
CPU
* Supports socket A for AMD Athlon / Athlon XP / Duron processor
* Supports 800MHz up to 1800+ MHz processor

You may be out of luck here. what do you have the FSB set to 100 or 133. Maybe you could adjust it to 100 with the duron then install the XP.
Hope it helps

i recently bought a 2nd cpu to try. It's the XP 2200+ and this one doesn';t work either.

So i have 2 XP cpu.s that don't work but meanwhile the Athlon 750 is still working fine.

Btw, I tried adjusting the fsb using the jumper on the mb and in the bios and had no luck.

Any other ideas?

P.S. I bought both the XP 2000+ and the XP 2200 + from the forums here and it seems like such a slim chance that both are bad. I have a feeling that the motherboard doesn't work for some reason.

I think you might have solved the mystery.

I beleive both XP cores that I have are thoroughbred, :frown:

Thanks
