Does anyone miss their internal drive with the X30/31?

I'm looking a new laptops and had really been thinking about the T40/41, but the new X40 looks awesome as I realized the only time I like the extra screen space is when I'm at home and can use an external monitor for this, should I want it). My only other real concern is not having the internal drive with me. Has anyone else run into this when you need it, but it's not with you and you dont carry it around with you? I have a 15" screen at 1024x768 and just dont like carrying around all the extra weight and size. I thought the 14.1" would be nice, but the 12.1" looks good. I just haven't used one so I dont have much to compare it to.

I've been toying with the same idea for a while now (also am considering an X series IBM as well as other smaller notebooks). Whether you will use the drive is a personal thing. The people I've talked to who own X series books do like them; however most have said that not having the drive is one of it's few downsides. I know a few people personally who have them and have resorted to carring an external optical drive with them. I am leaning away from the X series for this (and the screan resolution). I personally know that I would find it to be a pain in my butt to have to lug an optical drive around (though you may feel differently). I'd rather have it there for when I need it, as I do use my optical drives all the time.
