I'm actually curious about how time zone works on the borders where one time zone ends and the other meets.

Um, when you cross the border, you change the time.

I'm more interested about how people who live at these borders deal. How do you know when you've crossed into another time zone? It's not like someone drew a line. If someone asks for the time, how do you respond? How do you decide which time zone to live by? How do you resolve day to day functions that work within a timeframe(Like if someone said to meet them at 4)?

Yes, I live in central and work with clients in eastern time, mostly. I have to get up a little earlier. I find myself working later though, even though I should be "done" at 4pm. I feel bad for the woman in our company who works out of CA though.
