A guy at a Swedish forum I frequent started a thread about this little thingy:

No one seems to know what kind of egg it is, which of course makes me rather curious.

Rough translation of the original description:
The ocean floor was full of them, varying colors, some were transparent like this one, others were darker.
It's soft, not hard as it may look like on the picture.
Found in Florida Keys, I asked the people on the beach about it, and they were just as clueless.
Apparently they're about 4-5 centimeters in diameter.

Looks kinda like an alien egg...

Hatch it and find out. If it hugs your face after hatching, it is definitely an alien.

Could be a crab.

Well, I didn't take the picture, the question just piqued my interest ;)

probably a turtle egg

The turtles I know of lay their eggs in the sand, above the water line, and their eggs are white.
Granted, I'm no turtle expert, and those I know about are the larger varieties, with eggs to match :)

Some kind of crab was actually up for discussion, I guess that is a potential winner, just figured maybe some Florida native would recognize it and confirm what it is :)
