Does anyone know of a 36 fret guitar that you can actually play the high notes on?

What if you replaced the hammers with spinning disks coated with resin that engage the strings when they keys are pressed/held?

One of my favorite stringed instruments. I was gonna try to build one, but never got to it. Probably just as well. I'd have just screwed it up and gotten frustrated.

I believe Ibanez makes some 30 fret models - I know I saw a guy with a custom Gem like that.

I seriously doubt any company builds one as a standard model. Just not enough demand to make it worthwhile. You're looking at going through a factory's custom shop or a small custom builder.
