Does Anyone Know if Directv run at 480p?

I'm thinking about buy a new tv and getting Directv and was wondering if i should go ditigal (HDTV) which can get 480p, 720p, and 1080i. Seems to be worth it if directv goes at 480p rather than 480i.

It doesn't do 480p on every channel. I'm not sure what the high-def signal is tho (only on 3 or 4 channels). For locals you'll need an over-the-air antenna to get the high-def signal, I think.

ahh, so directv is still mostly 480i? cause they call it a "digital feed" was wondering if that meant it ran at 480p

Digital Signal, so there's no interference like w/ cable and antennas.

Your networks broadcast a lot in high def now. You don't need DTV to take advantage of that. DTV has 3 (I think) station that broadcast exclusively in high-def but I don't think any of the others can/do. I could be wrong there.

DirecTV right now is broadcasting

HDNET
HBO HD
Showtime HD
and a HD Pay Per View channel

These channels are broadcast at 1080i. HDNET is probably the most beautiful signal I have ever seen.

Depending if you live near a big city (within range of the HDTV feed antenna) you can get local channels in HD. Any non HD feed will look like normal TV, but a good bit of shows now are shown in HD. I get ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox, UPN, WB, and soon PBS in HD Feeds. I actually have 7 channels that are HD from a small antenna I have hidden behind my TV. It's straight awesome.

You can check the availablity for HD feeds from your local networks at Titan TV . Titan TV will show you the shows currently provided in HD by night and channel.
