Does anyone know how to get RID of the ad banners on Aol Instant Messenger

I heard people talking about altering or del a file?

i know that theres programs that deleted the banner but it had to be exectuted every single time which was annoying so i dumped it.

There are two ways..

you can use aimazing that just overwrites well actually superimposes an oscilloscope on the ads.. or

Here's how you disable AIM Advertisements:

Make sure AIM isn't running (not even the icon in the tray). Use notepad to open aim.odl. Scroll down to where there are two sections that have "advert" followed by "required". Remove the word required in both cases, and save the file. Now delete or rename your advert.ocm file (I renamed mine advert.bak). Now start AIM. When you sign on, no more annoying advertisements at the top of your buddy list.

thanks man for the joke. Considering the ads are a primary source of revenue for aol, they are going to make it nearly impossible to remove them.

Easiest way = drop aol.

i read on 2600 a way to replace it with your own picture or whatever you want to pu up there, it was not on the website it was on the 2600 magazine.
