Does anyone know how Office Depot B&M will handle a return without a receipt?

i already checked their site. . .they didnt have anything about returns without receipts to their physical B&M stores. .

i have this chair that i want to return. . .but i lost the goddamn receipt.

so will they give me like store credit or something?. . .

. . .and i apologize if this thread belongs somewhere else. . .i just thought that this was the best place for a post like this. . .

thanks.

If it's unopened and unused, I would guess store credit. Anything beyond that is probably up to the individual store manager and what kinda mood they might be in. Probably best to call the store and ask before you waste a trip out there. If you get someone to agree to take the chair back make sure you get their name so there will be no confusion once you get there. And no this is probably not the best place for this type of question.

If unopened, they will take it back if its not discontinued. You will only get store credit, usually for the lowest selling price in the last 30 days, if you go to a store that got abused by those 15 of 50 coupons you might be given 15 less than the price to cover for a possible fraudulent return. I just remembered, if you bought online, they can look you up in their database IIRC and will see what you paid, at least we could back when i worked at one

I've always had good luck using something like a credit card statement to prove where and for how much I bought an item.
If you used a check, a lot of stores say they can look the transaction up if you have the check number.
If you paid cash, you'll be at their mercy - good luck.

I think it was OD that I needed a receipt for warranty repair, and I had lost it. I got hold of an 800# from the store .... to where they keep records of all sales ...I just had to supply the date and the amount. They sent me a copy of the receipt to get the work done.

When I got the copy, it was not of the proper item, but at least we know that there is way to get that copy. My info that I tried to give them was really vague ...so with good info ...you should be successful.

Now a plug for Epson (the item I was trying to get fixed under warr). In the time I was trying to get the receipt (takes some time)the 600 printer stepped out of warranty. It was going to cost more to fix than a new one. I called Epson ...they not only fixed it for free ...there were two new cartridges included. How bout that?

Hi first of all next time post it in this thread here ~~~~ How Do I? ~~~~ Change your TOPIC to MODS PLEASE LOCK THANKS ! next delete your post content and leave just a 🙂 . Before the crappers and flamers have a field day getting extra posts out of this thread.

Now as to your question here in Bergen County NJ 99% of the time they will take it back. But as the members here have said it must be unopened, not discontinued and UPC MUST BE INTACT ! . You will only get store credit, but @ the lowest selling price in their data base. ( So you might get burnt if you paid more) Compucrap ,CC, OM and OD give you a store credit slip which CAN NEVER be cashed in. Staples will give you a plastic cash card which works just like a debit card. But will take off 10 bucks due to the abuse by those who used 10 off 10 coupons like they were potato chips. So if you can come up with some source of proof it will only help you out. BTW If you can remember the date and hour you brought it the clerk can find it in the database ; and again 99% of the time give you FULL store credit then.

You should turn on your PM ( private message) so that members can send you a private message rather then make a post. BTW it is the ONLY way you will get a answer in a thread like ~~~~~~I WANNA ~~~~~~ and a MUST if you use the ForSale/Trade forum. PM can be found by clicking on your profile. There you will see a bulleye's on for ON o OFF o.

Good Luck

Pnklytnyng - Without knowing more details like:
1) Has the box been opened yet?
2) If yes, has the chair been assembled or just in pieces with the box open?
3) Did you purchase the chair at a local store or online at OfficeDepot.com?
4) Did you pay with plastic (debit or credit card)? If so log on to your banks internet website and get a copy of that debit, print it out.
5) I would follow HawkeyeNJ's advice.
