Very rarely, mostly because I don't usually address a bunch of people at the same time. But, I do use it sometimes.

Ya'll know that on this board, I use that "word" a lot...read through this thread and you'll see more of "ya'll" than normal contractions, along with English teachers' favorites like "ain't"
and random contractions like " 'em" or "runnin' "...gotta love it...

I use it quite frequently, and I'm not even from the South. Much easier to say than "You People" or "You Guys"

Exactly. Although not grammatically correct, it is the simplest way to address more than one person. I've never understood why the English language does not have a 2nd person plural.

Y'all might not be grammatically correct by some peoples standards, but it is in most new dictionaries.

I live in Georgia, so yes, I use this term constantly. "Hey y'all." is a very common greeting down here. I am mocked mercilessly by my friends back in MI for this grammatical transgression, of course.

I have to smack myself everytime I catch myself using "fixin' to" in a sentence though...

At least it's not as bad as the inversion of verbs and their "helpers"

E.G., I might say something like: "Hey! Ya'll hungry? Get you a sandwich then!

Or better than that, the addition of " 'n" to if-

"If'n you guys think this is a nef, post you a reply!"

And I actually do that stuff, sometimes...

yall hungry?

yall want somethin' to drink?

the best two words are:
jaeatyit?
yauntoo?

i don't understand why certain partys are trying to hold the english language static. the language evolves and they want to hold it down somewhere between mark twain and john steinbeck.

lol...yeah...those bastards will tell me all of the etymology and phonetics behind other lame words, but if I'm trying to translate or define the statement "1 4m m057 7331 hax0r! 0wnz j00!!!!111", I'm SOL? BS.
