I work at a telemarketing company that does alot of work for charter pipeline in alot of areas, im just curious to those out there who used it how the service is how much your paying, what you think of it and where do you live? . Once in a while i hear that people had it in the past and had problems.

Charter is offering cable in Owosso MI. I don?t have it but Im a tech and do a lot of house calls with people who have it. I think its $40 a month for residential and $80-$150 or something too expensive for businesses. As for performance... I confidently can say Im less than impressed...

I have Charter Pipeline and it sucks. It's 1.5mbps/256kbps which is OK (although a lot of you guys have way faster cable). They just decided to raise their prices to $54/month from $40/month if I want to keep this same speed. It used to be really bad as far a reliability but it's better now. Good compared to dialup but not compared to most cable, especially for the price!

I have in where I'm at in Manistique, MI. I have alot of problems. I have to call charter about something once every 1-2 weeks. It costs about $40-50 per month and its the only high speed in the area. I really wish DSL would come through. It is just Bull-S*** how bad it can be sometimes. It goes down alot too.

Ahhh. . .
charter communications. . .
I live in Manistique MI and they just bumped the price on us. . .
its like 50 bucks for cr@p. It goes down like once every 3 days, and sometimes its slower than dialup!
but i shouldnt complain that much, for the most part it is reliable and fast, and being the only high speed internet connection in the area, i wont be leaving it. but on a scale of 1 to 10, i'd give it a 5.5
could do better

I have @home in Fort Worth, TX, at least until Friday..... apparently I'll be switched over to Charter Pipeline then.... :( My bandwidth is awesome right now, close to 4 megabits/sec download, and I really hope they don't screw it up... Price is good too at $37 a month, hopefully they won't jack it up too much....

I use comcast@home(DE) and it costs 33 w/ no cable modem rental for 1.5mps and 40 w/ the rental
I think that this is a fair price to pay......i might reconsider it if it was like 45-50 a month

Yes, i have the 768/128 package @ 40 bucks a month with the modem rental. Things are pretty good, downloads are quick, and pings are low.

In Wisconsin; had Charter@home, just switched to Charter Pipeline. Considering it just launched a week or so ago here in response to @home's bankruptcy, I think so far Pipeline is okay. For my $50 a month, I get three e-mail accounts, 10 MB of web space and so far, moderately good, fast service.

Of course, I've called @home tech support so many times in the last couple of years that I can pretty much troubleshoot any problems myself, barring network issues, so I'm down to maybe one call every couple of months, most of the time it's for stuff that's simple but has to be taken care of on their end. I'd say 99% of the time, tech support eventually gets my problem solved, although Tier2 is definitely miles better (in terms of brains and attitude) than Tier1 support.

I've noticed since switching to Pipeline that they're having sporadic problems with their mail servers and there have been some times during the day when my speed stinks, but I've noticed they're also messing with the television channels again, so maybe the slowdowns are because of something they're doing in relation to the television signal or something.

In general though, Charter itself sucks - overpriced, iffy service and they really could care less what their customers want or say. We keep hearing that we're going to get a cable competitor in the area, but no one's been able to get one going yet.

I must be lucky, I have Charter pipeline and have outstanding service and I've never found it down when I wanted to use the net.
My only gripe is the 50 bucks/month I pay plus the 60 for digital cable. :(

Yea I was one of the unfortunate folks who got charter pipeline shoved down my throat due to this bankruptcy filing. I have been happy with the @ home service and would have been happy to pay a price increase for the same service.Instead I went from $24.95 to 49.95 a month for their fastest service which is " at best" 1/3 the speeds I was getting. The morons @charter on the phone have no idea what they are talking about when you call and ask questions and you get conflicting answers between the 800 # and the local morons. The so called tech who they said had to come to my house in order to do the change over made no mention of the fact that I would no longer be able to acsess the @home network or my @home email address in the 5 words he spoke while he was here, luckily I found the pop3 entry on @homes site to retrieve via netmail so i could notify everyone. I have pages and pages of complaints about this POS service but might as well not waste any more time complaining. I plan to ditch pipeline and go DSL as soon as i can get it worked out.

By the way I am in the Asheville NC area

Charter is incredibly lame. I saw some commercial on TV one night.. something like $30/month internet service. I couldnt believe it! I tried to call them up the next day. Busy. I called them every day for 2 weeks. I am NOT kidding. I finally got through and it was regular price or more ($40+). I have worked in related fields so I asked for an application.. She said they were not hiring (THATS A HINT THAT CUSTOMER SERVICE HAS NO PLANS OF IMPROVING). Anyway my parents ATT@home was bought by Charter@home and thanks to the recent developments, they now are forced to go to Charter Pipeline. I emailed charter but they never replied. I called Charter to ask about the conversion. I asked what the price of the new service would be and she said she did not know! HAH!! A specialist would have to call me back. I left my number, and 2 days later, no call. Anyway, if you don't believe me, try calling 1-800-2395609. It is busy right now for me. And the local number is also. I find it VERY SUSPICIOUS AND DISHONEST that they would not tell you what they charge for their own product! If it is $45 or above I am telling my parents to switch to DSL; as much as I dislike BellSouth and their outrageous fees, at least they are fair and up front about it. They are already switching to DirectTV or DISH because Charter is cancelling our premium channels unless we upgrade to "digital cable" with a tacky box and huge fee for EVERY TV SET!! Its like $60 a month or something ridiculous. DISH is $9 for a year.. $29 after that.
