I still have the first CD-R I ever burned...it is scratched to hell but I still have it....

but is it still readable?

I noticed a lot of my old cd-r are gone (can't read them anymore). thankfully, i no longer need them or can live without them

It lasts righ up until you forget where it is ans run over it with your chair. But honsetly, a couple decades I'm sure with decent media.

I always thought it was like 10 years or something. It also abviously depends on the conditions that you store them in. I have lots of cds that I burned in 1997 and 1998 (back in the 1x days) that I am about to transfer to DVD.

I just checked my pr0n collection from 2.5 years ago and it's still good. *Phew*

you actually still have a porn collection from 2.5 years ago?

I would of thought you would of thrown that out by now

i had some cheapo compusa from about 8-10 years back that are no longer working. however there are higher quality CDRs that I left in spindles or cases that still work. so i would assume on the means of storage and the brand. i would imagine some of them last quite a few decades?
